SCORING SYSTEMS

CAMRA ~ Campaign for Real Ale - National Beer Scoring System
(Members of CAMRA can record scores via www.beerscoring.org.uk)

All scores from our reviews are uploaded to the NBSS by Bob. If a Pub's average falls below 2.5 it may be dropped from the next Good Beer Guide.

CAMRA NBSS Beer Ratings (0-5 with increments of 0.5)

0 Undrinkable No Real Ale or so bad you take it back or can't finish it!
1 Poor Barely drinkable to just drinkable with resentment
2 Average Competently kept, drinkable, but uninspiring, you drink without noticing
3 Good Good beer in good form, may cancel next pub, stay for more & seek it again
4 Very Good Excellent beer in excellent condition
5 Perfect Nectar! The best pint in the best pub in the world ~ rarely achieved.

Food Expectations

Value Index:  100 = price we expect to pay,  <99 or Less = Great Value!,  >Over 100 = Chiselling Bastards!

On Tour we look for good beer soaking meals - plate of Chilli around £5-50, decently priced rolls or sandwich £2
Burgers under £5, snacks - Cheese on Toast, Cheesy Chips etc for under £2
It's not rocket science, But it is possible - read The Journals!  (Prices correct as at October 2008)

Pub Scores ~ Introduced for 'BiTe' reviews based loosely on CAMRA's old 10 point version of the above.

6 Above Average Pleasant drink may not be worth moving on, but if there was time you'd look for better
7 GOOD Well worth having another pint or two!
8 Very Good Good beer in good form, cancel next pub, stay for more & seek it again
